Botanical Art Workshop taught by Erika Elizondo & Ixchel Gladstone
A whimsical exploration into playing with the treasures found in nature, this course invites participants to discover the beauty and endless possibilities within petals, branches, leaves, and other botanicals. Through guided creative exercises, students will learn techniques for arranging, composing, and transforming natural materials into expressive works of art. Along the way, we will deepen our connection to the natural world, noticing its textures, colors, and quiet stories. By the end of the class, each participant will leave with unique botanical pieces and a renewed sense of creative curiosity.

Meet the Teachers

Erika Elizondo is a botanical artist, jewelry maker, chef, dancer and educator who began her art education career as a Gallery Teacher at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art from 2002-2016. She has also given tours and taught art workshops at the Getty Museum, Getty Villa, and LA City Hall as well as schools all over Los Angeles county. She is a local artisan who loves to create artwork made with the treasures Mother Nature provides. Erika lives in Ojai with her husband and daughter. And when she isn’t teaching cooking classes at Rock Tree Sky or performing with Dance Ojai, you will certainly find her in the local mountains foraging for mugwort and elderberries. Ixchel Gladstone is a baker and decorator, jewelry maker, creative artist, and dancer whose work celebrates beauty, movement, and imagination. She loves exploring new techniques across all forms of making, often drawing inspiration from the natural world—especially flowers—which she honors through her baked creations and artistic expressions. Her experience with Native American traditions has allowed her to facilitate spiritually rooted workshops and retreats that encourage connection, creativity, and inner exploration. When she’s not creating or dancing, Ixchel enjoys spending time with her husband and son in Ojai, California. You can find more of her work on Instagram at @bloombakeryojai.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE DANCE ARTS
You are supporting the continuation of our endeavors to bring more of the cultural dance arts to Ojai. Without the support of our community we would not be able to continue furthering our dance traditions and passing the joy and passions of dance from generation to generation.
