About the event
Singing with Our Hands : American Sign Language Song Sign with Laurel Felice
Each week we’ll use ASL (American Sign Language) to learn the signs for a new song—letting the lyrics come to life through expressive hand movements. We’ll explore classic, spiritual, and popular songs, reviewing and practicing together, with room for your suggestions and favorites. Come enjoy a warm, creative space where your hands can “dance in the air.” Benefits include improved memory, fine-motor coordination, emotional wellbeing, and a greater sense of connection and community.
For ages 55+
Class Fee: $5/class
You can enroll in classes online at Ojai Rec Dept online registration site, over the phone at (805) 646-5581 ext. 390 or in person at Sarzotti Park, located at 510 Park Road Monday through Friday 8 am to 5:30 pm. Drop-Ins are also welcome!

Meet the Teacher

Laurel Felice has studied and loved American Sign Language at Pierce College and with private teachers over many years. She feels it is a natural extension of the concepts and emotions of song, and that Song Sign offers an opportunity for creativity and expression that can bring connection and compassion.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE DANCE ARTS
You are supporting the continuation of our endeavors to bring more of the cultural dance arts to Ojai. Without the support of our community we would not be able to continue furthering our dance traditions and passing the joy and passions of dance from generation to generation.
